WordPress pranks – prank no. 1

Lately wordpress  is not on its best behaviour. I guess they are not quite having a ball at the moment. What really turns me off is when the home page won’t open. Instead they issue a big (and recurring) message:

Whoops

Something went wrong.

Drop us a note.

Dropping a note is no problem! You just have to follow the link they provided and then a page loads, where you do your writing, right?

Wrong!

Once you click the link they provide, you are very likely to be ambushed with another message “Support is temporarily closed. [...] – depending on your time zone.

Gee, is that the cool wordpress way of saying “April fool”! Or ‘Gotcha! How come you fell for that (chuckle)”!

You know, I wouldn’t mind April Fool pranks. I am usually not a spoilsport. Just make sure you do it on April 1.

And in case it’s the Gotcha version….well, you are right. You got me! Problem is, I don’t get you sometimes. And each time I fall, I feel grumpy.

Hmmmmmmmm, maybe that’s not a bad thing after all….I mean, it inspired me to write an entry, didn’t it?

  1. You’re special, I suppose. ;)

Bear in mind, that WordPress.com is effectively a running Beta site for WordPress development, so things are going to go offline periodically as they test new things and while they make upgrades and changes. It’s convenient at times, sure, but personally, I think the benefits in the long-run make the periodic down-times worthwhile.

  2. hello jim! welcome to my blog! :D

but hey! i don’t wanna be special. i wanna be like the rest. hee hee!

the benefits yeah! {drool}. that’s why i have two blogs here and another one is under the way. and i have no other anywhere else.

  3. oh matt, thanks for visiting again!

your apology is accepted! one more reason to love wordpress….the guy who developped it really cares about issues!

i have no more resentment concerning the issue.
    WORDPRESS ROCKS! :D
