How to use the wordpress Reblog option to have a Featured Post section in your blog

Creative use of wordpress Reblog button #3

A post teaser that also has an image is an excellent way of showcasing a Featured Post in your blog home page.

Note: This tutorial is exclusively for wordpress.com blogs and uses the sticky post option.

Here is what you have to do.

Log into your wordpress.com blog using Firefox. Create a new post (of course, don’t publish it yet!). For the post title, write Featured post.
Now view your blog and choose an post that you want to give more exposure. Since it’s gonna end up in your home page, choose wisely!

Click the post title, “Like” and “Reblog this post” it.

When the page with the Reblog loads, carefully select the gonna-be-Reblogged portion, right-click and click view selection source. A window will open with the code. Copy (ctrl+c) the code, come back to your posts edit panel and paste the code using the HTML editor. (If you are having problem following the instructions here, read How to use the wp.com “Like and reblog” button to create an eye-catching list of your old blog posts – I have used the same process and more detailed instructions there with images)

Now change the visibility of the post to public and check “Stick this post to the home page”.

Publish and view your post!

Tip: Change the showcased reblog time to time to make your home page more interesting.
