A Related posts feature is a very important addition in a blog post, because it gives the reader easy access to find similar articles. That means, your reader will be happy (to find info easily) and you will be happy too (because of extra clicks)!
Unfortunately, the “Related posts” option offered by wordpress.com isn’t particularly helpful for a blogger who wants to keep visitors IN the blog, because the wordpress Related post feature fetches articles from allover blogosphere.
Today we will learn how to create our own “Related posts” using post thumbnails and keep visitors in OUR blogs!
Do you have Firefox? If you do, all you have to do is install Kwout Firefox add-on.
This add-on allows you to cut out a portion of a web page and you can also reframe the image to get the perfect portion. Then Kwout will upload the image for you. Then all you have to do is copy the code they give you and paste it under a blog post!
Every “kwout” image is linked to the original post and when you hover the cursor over the image, the post title shows up. So, your visitor can get a hint before clicking to read the full post.
Tips
1. Before you post a thumbnail under a post, please write the words “Related posts” in bold letters, so your reader can relate to it.
2. Do not use too large images. They are supposed to be just thumbnails, so keep them within 180 pixels x 180 pixels (max).
3. Every “Kwout” image also comes with a text link (linking to the origimal article). You won’t be able to put post thumbnails in a row uf you do not remove the text link.
To see how a “Related post” section looks when it has post thumbnails, see below!
