How to allow your readers to download pdf version of your wordpress.com blog post

How to use the bookmarklet

After you publish a new post, stay in your blog editor. Make sure you are on the VISUAL editor and not the HTML editor.

Click the bookmarklet from your Firefox Toolbar (it says post-to-pdf) and scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Voila! Your button is there already!

Update and view the post.
Click the PDF icon and a “Save” dialogue box will open like this.

And you will be able to save the PDF version of your blog post!

Button options
The button I upladed has transparent background. That means, it can be easily integrated in any blog post.
However, if you need a different version, just upload the button in a blog post and give me the image url.

I will code a bookmarklet so that you can have the button of your choice in your blog post.

I used the convert-to-pdf service by Pdfmyurl to create the pdf-for-wordpress.com solution.

The post-to-pdf text link

First publish your post and stay in your HTML editor.
In order to put a text link, simply copy the code below and add it in your blog post using the HTML editor.

<a href="http://pdfmyurl.com?url=PASTE-POST-URL">download this page as pdf</a>

Now go to the published version of your post and copy the url of your blog post from the address bar. Go to your HTML editor again, find out the phrase PASTE-POST-URL and replace it with the copied url of your blog post.

An example
The text link below was created in this manner:

Need proof?

If you need proof that the script works, why not click the button below?

It will prompt a “Download dialogue box” with which you can save the PDF version of the blog post.
