Add links to local tags in wordpress.com global tag pages   posted in: wordpress tips

Many wordpress.com bloggers grieve that wordpress puts global tags, and not local tags in the post section of blogs.

Well, now it’s time to get even! We are going to turn the table and put local tags of our blogs in wordpress.com global tag pages!

WordPress.com global tag pages have no link to local tags. That has always been the scenario. Check any post excerpt in any global tag page and you will see…

The tags that appear under each post excerpt are again, global and not local.

Now look at the image of the wordpress.com global tag page for “wordpress tips”

Or view Archived url of the global tag page for “wordpress tips” right after this post is published:

My blog post (this very post) listed there has links to my own local tag “wordpress tips”! This is a very delicious tidbit for a curious visitor who wants to find more related content listed in a particular tag from that particular blog.

Size does matter!
And because the local tags look much bigger (they are wrapped between h1 tags) than the puny global tags under the excerpt, they are more visible and has better chances of getting clicked!

Note
The hyperlinks you add in the main body of a post get stripped out in the global tag pages. So, if you want to get your local tags to show up in the wordpress.com global tag page, you have to put the links to your local tags right in the “Post Title” field.

You can learn to do that here:
